FBB Founder and President, Paula Benton is a multi-certified professional dog trainer specializing in assistance service dog training for people with mobility differences. She is proud to be a staff member in the Behavior & Trainer department at SF Animal Care & Control. Creating Full Belly Bus has been her ten year passion.
FBB Advisory Board Member & Dog Trainer, Corinne Dowling is committed to science-centered, rewards-based training methods. She pioneered environmental enrichment care for dogs in long term shelter care in 2000 as the creator and founder of Give a Dog a Bone. Corinne earned her Certificate in Training and Counselling from the Academy for Dog Trainers at SF/SPCA.
FBB Team Member, Paul Ellis is a British dog trainer with over 20 years experience, who in addition to teaching pet dog training classes, has worked with police forces in the UK training scent detection and tracking dogs. Paul now lives in San Francisco and enjoys sharing his tracking expertise with pet owners teaching tracking for fun and search & rescue courses.
Dr. Julio Bolívar graduated from San Marcos National University in 1975 and became a Small Animal Specialist in 1978 in Lima, Peru. After emigrated to the United States he earned his US accreditation as a Veterinarian in 1984. Making the Bay Area his home, he worked in different Hospitals which inspired him to provide less stressful, easy access, in-home medical care. In 1989, Dr. Bolivar’s entrepreneurial spirit led him to create Vet On Wheels.
A Bay Area native, FBB Team Member, Marisa got involved in animal rescue ten years ago when she adopted her first dog. Since then, she has worked for rescue groups, volunteered with shelters, and is currently working at SF Animal Care & Control as a veterinary technician. Marisa brings a host of experiences and knowledge to the Full Belly Bus team. She lives in the city with her amazing husband, three rescue dogs, and one adopted cat who thinks she’s a dog.
FBB Team Member, Pauline is a volunteer at SF Animal Care & Control where she is passionate about working with the city's stray, custody and behaviorally-challenged dogs. She is also supporting a data initiative to analyze long-term trends at ACC. When not at ACC, Pauline spends time with her husband and two pups, she volunteers as a court-appointed advocate for foster kids and she is a healthcare consultant for the hospital industry.
Executive Board member, Heather Burton served 3 terms on the board of a fundrasing arm of the SF-SPCA; she is currently the Vice President of Operations at a venture captial investment firm; and also graduated from SF-SPCA's Dog Training Academy. Heather's strong commitment to the human-animal bond led her to be a member of the behavior and training team at SF's Animal Care & Control while maintaining her small dog-training business on the side.
Executive Board member, Leslie M. Crawford is a longtime journalist who has translated her background in real-life storytelling to fiction, starting with Sprig the Rescue Pig and Gwen the Rescue Hen as the first in a series of books about farm animals. She has written for Great Schools, Salon and San Francisco Magazine, among many other publications.
Advisory Board member, Ariana Luchsinger, has been working professionally with both homed and sheltered dogs since 2003. A certified trainer & behavior-counseling graduate from the Academy for Dog Trainers, Ariana currently serves as SF Animal Care & Control’s Acting Operations Manager and the head of Behavior and Training. She is proud to serve her San Francisco community for the betterment of people and their pets.
With over a decade of experience in the Bay Area animal welfare industry, FBB Team Member, Susi has leant her highly versatile expertise working at SF Puppy Prep, Pets Unlimited, Muttville Senior Dog Rescue, Berkeley Humane Society and is currently a member of SF Animal Care & Control's Behavior & Training department. Her love and fascination of animals rivals her appetite for music. A talented drummer and vocalist, Susi can be seen performing throughout San Francisco.
After retiring from 33 years working as a Probation Officer in Alameda County and two years of volunteering with the SF Ombudsman Office supporting elderly people, FBB Team Member, Kay was looking for a different way to feel useful. Joining FBB's Mobile Pet Care Team was a perfect fit. Kay feels inspired connecting with people who despite their own overwhelming problems make their pet’s care a priority, and feels rewarded watching how the help given their pets, lightens their own cares.
A native Californian, Advisory Board member, Angelique Thomas has been working in the animal care industry for almost a decade. Angelique works at SF Animal Care & Control as a Lead Animal Care Attendant and with her expertise on pet nutrition is the pipeline for donated food that SFACC passes on to Full Belly Bus. A true introvert, Angelique is often found behind the scenes making things run smoothly!
Advisory Board member, Katy Jones grew up in a weird house with a strange variety of animals and she can’t remember a time when she was not responsible for at least one. She studied literature and creative writing in New York City before realizing she likes books but loves animals more. Today Katy works at SF Animal Care & Control in the animal care division and lives in Oakland with her rude chihuahua.
