Wonder what a difference your donations make to Full Belly Bus? Meet J. and his service dog Rex, who shares his story from the San Francisco Public Library’s reopened Talking Books and Braille Center.

“My dog Rex is a gift. It's not true that he is just my best friend. He's a best friend to everyone who meets him. He loves everybody.

I am 67 years old. I live in the Tenderloin and I have life-threatening illnesses. I’ve been through a lot in the last seven years. I have become very isolated, and my dog is my only companion. If it weren’t for Rex, I'd be gone by now with no returning point.

When I am cold, he lays on top of me. When I’m unresponsive, he licks me all over to wake me up. I tell him we aren’t even boyfriends, we are just roommates!

What I get from Full Belly Bus is beyond pet food, supplies, training and warm smiles. I feel supported by them. If people can hear my story, maybe they can help with donations to make it possible for Full Belly Bus to keep going.”
